My father's parting gift to me when I got my own place was a pair of cell phone stun guns. I am aged 24 now, and I could be 40 but still be the daughter he wants to safeguard with self-protection tools.

Little did I know I was about to come face to face with a deadly assault. Back then, I just took his concern matter-of-factly despite my constant exposure to unknown business customers in unknown places.

I carried one of daddy's cell phone stun guns over other self-protection tools one day as I stepped out of the office to hand-deliver some personal care merchandise.

I was surprised to find a man waiting to meet me, not the woman I was expecting. He claimed to be my buyer's brother and that his sister could not get out of another meeting.

Tasers And Stun Guns

I and my friends spend a lot of time together even after college. Every evening, we go around the community on our bicycles. We particularly like to take the scenic route surrounded by hills.

There were some other cyclists we felt were shadowing us one night that we rode on our favorite trail. We decreased speed but they behaved as if they meant us no harm and carried on. In any case, we had taken our self defense tools along.

We understand the effectiveness of our Tasers and stun guns, and although that night turned out to be uneventful, are happy to carry our self defense tools at all times. We resumed our cycling on the mountainous path a week later and saw the same cyclists were around and trailing.

Before we knew it, they gained on us and halted on our way, challenging us. We had Tasers and stun guns in our possession, unsurprisingly, but were not quite sure what was going on.

From that day onwards, I have been more conscious of reminding us to take our self defense tools along when we meet up. I suppose friends bonding together can invite the ire of malicious gangs who want to break them apart.
